After 56 successful shows all around the world, Beyonce is ready to keep the love going by bringing her concert to the big screens on December 1st.
RENAISSANCE: A FILM BY BEYONCÉ portrays the journey of the RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR, from the behind the scenes on working on the album, to the opening date in Stockholm, Sweden, and the finale show in Kansas City, Missouri. It is about Beyoncé’s hard work, involvement in every aspect of the production, her involvement in every aspect of the theme and production, and the culmination of all that effort into one stunning performance.
The tour was kicked off after the release of her RENAISSANCE album released on July 29, 2022, by Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records contains hit after hit of dance music. Beyoncé created the music, wrote, and recorded RENAISSANCE during the COVID-19 pandemic, seeking to bring a sense of escapism in listeners who had struggled with isolation, and to celebrate a club era through bringing back EDM style dance music. With its songs carrying a DJ-like mix, the album blends post-1970s Black dance music styles, such as disco and house, with inspiration coming from both Black and queer musicians together. The album’s lyrical content explores themes of self-assurance and self-expression.
The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, Beyoncé’s seventh consecutive album to do so, and is certified platinum.”Break My Soul” was released on June 20, 2022, and reached number one on several charts worldwide, including the US Billboard Hot 100. The album’s second single “Cuff It” peaked in the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 and internationally.
The singer has previously released a variety of concert films and documentaries through DVD (“I Am…Yours,” 2009), HBO (“Life Is but a Dream,” 2013, and “Lemonade,” 2016) and Netflix’s streaming service (“Homecoming,” 2019). But the release of the RENAISSANCE film to theaters around the country follows a similar trend developed by Taylor Swift, whose Eras Tour concert film was released on Oct. 13.
The album and tour followed a silver metallic theme that has followed throughout the whole tour per Beyonce’s request. The tour not only showcased a variety of queer dancers throughout the show, but also utilized extraordinary visuals through machines used on stage, spreading awe and wonder throughout the venue and, in the future, to theaters everywhere.
