When trying to rack up those community service hours, it can be hard to find opportunities that are easy, rewarding, and time-efficient. Luckily enough, there are plenty of ways to earn community service opportunities from the comfort of Clark’s campus—one of them being through participating in Book Club’s Book Drive!
Clark Book’s Club recently collected a series of children’s books of all genres and within the elementary school reading level. Hours are earned through participating in the organizational and packing process of collected books! Within the upcoming 2025-26 school year, Book Club plans to collect even more books and distribute them to local elementary schools. The distribution process will provide students with another chance to obtain hours, so keep an eye out for when this happens next year!
Being able to complete these simple tasks is not only rewarding for students on campus, but also for children outside of Clark who have the opportunity to read some fun and interesting books over the summer. Clark students’ participation in this event can help enrich children’s knowledge and help develop their reading skills for their next school year.
Book Club officers were excited to hit the ground running with this event. “Being able to continue this drive from last year felt really fulfilling. I got the chance to help students at Clark as well within my own community, with something I’m truly interested in,” Book Club president Karina Hartenyan said. If this opportunity sparks any interest, feel free to visit the Book Club’s Instagram page or talk to one of the officers on campus to ask for more details.
One of the biggest things about completing community service in any capacity is that there’s a meaning behind it; participation in community service events extends past the few hours that are tallied for that day. The impact can be so much more meaningful than expected. Whether distributing books back to the community or working a few shifts at an elementary school carnival, go out and see what there is to do; there are opportunities everywhere to make a difference.
