The senior class came together in front of the school on a chilly morning to witness the start of an important new chapter in their lives. An unexpected twist marked the beginning of this year’s Senior Sunrise: an IHOP breakfast that quickly turned into an unusual and memorable experience. The 6 AM morning assembly at Clark Magnet High School set the tone for the course of their final year of high school, but the IHOP frenzy that followed the occasion was what really made this sunrise memorable. The event, which united tradition and friendship, set the foundation for a year full of successes and memorable experiences.
The occasion was made extra memorable in many ways by ASB. In order to make sure that everyone had something to enjoy while they watched the sun rise, ASB gave out free hot chocolate and donuts, while students gathered in warm blankets. A poster and a DIY picture frame with the phrases “Senior Sunrise” and “Class of 2025” were among the considerate details from ASB, which enhanced the joyful atmosphere of the morning. Many students shared photos they had taken using the picture frame on social media, displaying the enjoyable time they had at the event.
Eric Galoustian, Senior Class Vice President, shared his perspective as a planner of the event. “The whole event was a team effort that took creativity and dedication, and it was very rewarding to see it all come together. I hope that everyone who attended the senior sunrise and the fundraiser had an amazing time and made lasting memories,” Galoustian said.
Following the sunrise, the event shifted to a fundraiser breakfast at IHOP, aiming to continue the day’s celebrations with a delicious breakfast. IHOP had not realized that a hungry horde of sleep-deprived students was about to invade their restaurant. The wait for a table stretched out the door, and the restaurant was running on a minimal crew–one waitress and one cook did their best to hold down the fort. Employees and staff who were not scheduled for the day were called in as reinforcements to serve each and every hungry student.
After some time, many students grew impatient and decided to leave, in search of other cafes and restaurants where they could get their fuel for the day. Senior Jenna Faoor gave her insights as she shared, “It was so much fun to see all the seniors gathered together, sharing the excitement of our final year. One of my favorite parts of the event was heading to IHOP afterward with my friends, where the fun continued over a really delicious breakfast.”
The IHOP chaos was just a humorous twist in an otherwise perfect and memorable morning, which was full of stories exchanged, laughter amongst friends, and certainly left a lasting impression on the high school graduates (to be).
