Hoover High School history teacher Christopher Clemons joins Clark’s social science department as the newest AP U.S. History teacher on campus. This year, Mr. Clemons will be teaching AP U.S. History as well as AP World History which includes much of the sophomore and junior class.
Mr. Clemons got his undergraduate degree from Cal State Fullerton where he majored in Political Science and minored in History. He also attended CSUN for grad school where he earned his teaching credentials.
He was a teacher at Hoover for 18 years prior to coming to Clark in hopes to be closer to his daughters in neighboring elementary schools. He is an extremely experienced teacher having taught AP Government, Philosophy and World History. “It’s my first year teaching AP U.S. History, but it’s similar to World History with the test format and the subject itself,” Clemons said.
During his free time, Clemons enjoys being outdoors and spending time with his family. He spends time with his daughters as much as he can, with Mario Party being one of their favorite games on the Nintendo Switch. He loves to spend time with his family outdoors at the beach or going on road trips. “We spent a lot of time hiking, kayaking, and seeing the beautiful scenery, especially the waterfalls,” Mr. Clemons said.
Mr. Clemons has been enjoying his time at Clark by meeting new people and making new connections. He appreciates how highly motivated the students are at Clark and enjoys having more in depth conversations with them. He is an easy person to talk to and has a great sense of humor. “He’s a very understanding person and has an encouraging demeanor towards his students,” junior Natalie Hovhannisyan said. With high hopes for the new school year, Clark welcomes their newest teacher with open arms and much hope for an amazing year.
