Former juniors now seniors Sako Kahwajian, Tigran Ghukasyan and Aram Arutyunyan enjoy the last bits of their In-N-Out meal at last year’s Clarktoberfest.

“There’s going to be In-N-Out and Krispy Kreme and a bunch of other food,” mused ASB Junior Class Director of Publicity Kristine Shaverdyan as she explained the details of this year’s Clarktoberfest. “We’re also bringing in Pinkberry frozen yogurt and Takis,” said Shaverdyan.

This year’s event marks the fourth annual Clarktoberfest, with 2010 being its maiden voyage of sorts. In 2011, plans of making it a once-a-semester event began surfacing; however, the festival has continued as a once-a-year event.

Clarktoberfest is organized by ASB and carried out by students from all the grade levels. “We have representatives from each class selling donuts, snacks and water,” said ASB advisor Elaine Snodgress. “Each grade level is assigned one festival food to sell. We’re also guaranteeing hamburgers for every single person who bought a ticket ― regardless of where they are standing in line.”

The festival will also include games played on the field. “We’re going to have students playing the bean bag toss and the toilet bowl toss and the panther toss,” Snodgress said. ASB also promises that winners of these games will be rewarded with new, special prizes.

The Publications class is also playing a role in this year’s Clarktoberfest by bringing a brand new item to the list of festivities. “We’ll be contributing a photo booth for the length of the festival,” said advisor Chris Davis. The photo booth won’t be short of excitement though, as the photo booth company is also providing costumes, masks and other accessories to be used by the students in the booth.

Additionally, the pictures being taken in the photo booth are slated to be used in the yearbook as well, “Since students are posing and making funny faces it’ll make for interesting photos. It’s important to note though, that by taking pictures, students are granting permission for those photos to be used,” Davis said. Students can also buy a physical copy of their photos from the booth for $1 each.

Oktoberfest will take place on Oct. 22 during seventh period.
