Renowned animator John Over joins Clark’s staff
Following the retirement of former animation teacher Frank Wyatt, Clark hired award-winning animator and producer John Over to take the position of animation teacher. With more than 20 years of work in the animation industry, Over is well versed in animation, art and design.
Over has worked on a number of award-winning cartoons and feature films, including Tiny Toons, Animaniacs and Clifford the Big Red Dog. He has been a producer, animator and writer for Spielberg and Warner Bros. productions and his works have been awarded Emmys, British Academy Awards and many other accolades.
Over states that he originally planned to pursue a career in teaching science, but began to pursue a career in the arts after winning many competitions. “I loved the arts, but my parents hated it,” said Over. “However, I saw job openings at a new Warner Bros wing opened by Spielberg and I knew that this field was where I should’ve been.”
Prior to coming to Clark, Over had taught at Cal State Northridge, but had been told of a job opening at Clark by a friend. “Clark is fantastic, especially the students,” Over said. “They’re not just bright, they’re good people and they’re opinionated on things.” Over also admires the support of Principal Douglas Dall. “Principal Dall has been so supportive of me, he has a very practical approach,” Over said. “I have friends who teach that are jealous of my situation here and I couldn’t wish for a more supportive principa
