Mr. Woods joins Clark faculty for his 28th year of teaching

“It is a completely different environment,” said new Math Analysis and Algebra 2 teacher Geoff Woods when asked for his opinion about Clark. “There is no trash anywhere, and I like that the dress code is enforced. In general, the students are also more motivated to learn.”

Previously, Woods taught at Glendale High School for 23 years and said that he had a great experience there. “I only put in a transfer to here because I wanted something completely different from where I was,” Woods said. “It was time for a change.”

Fortunately, this change was a positive one for Woods, who said that he enjoys having the block schedule. “I love it just because for 23 years it was the same thing over and over again,” he said, “At Glendale High School, I was teaching the same five classes every day, five days in a row. This schedule adds more variety.”

Woods grew up in La Crescenta and attended Crescenta Valley High School. He then went on to major in Exercise Physiology at the University of California, Davis. Woods began teaching at an inner city school in South Central Los Angeles on an emergency credential. He taught math there for four years, then went to teach at Glendale High School. This year at Clark marks the beginning of his 28th year of teaching.

Not only does Woods enjoy boxing, kickboxing and playing tennis in his spare time, he is also a self-published author. A little over a year ago, Woods wrote A Case for Wisdom: A Son’s Story about Reconciling with his Father.
