The Kwon Dynasty begins

“Today marks the start of Kwon Dynasty,” says Yongjae Kwon, the newly elected 2015 senior class president. Kwon campaigned against Ani Orujyan in a fiery battle for the position. Kwon’s campaign was marked by his motto, “Vote with Kwon-fidence,” and his victory manifested into a term coined by Kwon himself: The Kwon Dynasty.

One of Kwon’s main goals as senior president was to ensure a fun prom for his class, despite rumors that he was going to work to cancel prom. “I want to make sure prom happens; I want it to happen,” says Kwon. Prom has never been cancelled and Kwon said he wants to keep it that way.

Some of the more intense changes Kwon is interested in pursuing include, but are not limited to, academic reform. “I feel like ASB hasn’t integrated STEM curriculum into the academic process,” Kwon said. STEM is a system of teaching and learning that emphasizes science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

In addition to his hopes for a wonderful prom and more changes geared towards science, Kwon wants the senior student body to know that he will work to implement positive change. “I want more fundraisers, quality over quantity,” Kwon says as he continues to ensure his stance. “I really want what’s best for the school.”
