“Ring-a-Ding-Ding, Here Comes Spring!” Door Decorating Contest
Congratulations to Ms. McGrath’s class for winning the contest!
Many Clark students were rushing to get their doors decorated last Friday morning in time for the door decorating contest. It was Clark’s first time in a long time for having a door decorating contest.
Fifteen classes participated in the contest. The contest was judged by unbiased ASB members who did not participate in the contest along with staff members Janet Dilanchyan, Susan Howe and Gregory Zamlich. English teacher Diana McGrath’s fourth period won the contest along with class pride and more importantly, donuts.
Their theme incorporated modern social media with spring. Sophomore Lori Berberian was one of McGrath’s fourth period students who participated in the contest. “My class, with the help of our lovely teacher, Ms. McGrath, decided to name our class slogan ‘Tweeting About Spring,’” Berberian said. “This incorporates both Twitter and chirping birds of spring.”
The contest brought more than pride and donuts, as it also grew a stronger bond among the winning students. “We made sure everyone participated in decorating the door,” Berberian said. “It was a big group effort that definitely brought my class closer together.”
Even though Ms. McGrath’s class won, history teacher Eric Krusinski thought his door was, as he put it, “aDOORable.” Their door consisted of the students’ faces on the flowers with Vladimir Putin riding on a bunny and Krusinski as the sun. “They call me Mr. KurSUNski now because I am the light of their lives,” Krusinski joked. “Apparently, there is no spring-time in Russia,” he playfully added.
