The week of Sept. 9-13 was hectic for Clark students who were busy signing up for the school’s many clubs under the bright sun in the amphitheater.

Students of all grade levels could be seen running back and forth between tables with friends as they deliberated over which clubs to join. Some students chose with their futures in mind.

“I wanted to go into the Medical field and become a plastic surgeon, so I joined Pre-Med club,” said sophomore Mark Grigorian said. “Plus, it looks good on college applications.”

Other students joined based their personal passions and backgrounds.

After expressing interest in Armenian Club, freshman Rita Bilamejian said, “I don’t want to lose that culture.”

All the while, club representatives were busily introducing their clubs’ purpose, and some even created catchy slogans to pique the interest of potential members.

“I’m a wordsmith!” Poetry club vice president Tyler Lofftus said to sum up his well-established club’s ideals.

The school year brought back many well-established clubs as well as new ones.

Director of Clubs Patrick Allahverdian said there were about five new clubs.

New clubs include SADD, GSA, GMG, GEARS, Animal Safety Club, College Prep Club, Philosophy Club and Intellectual Discussion Club.

According to President Christina Galajan, Students Against Destructive Behavior (SADD), informs our community about the dangers of destructive behavior, such as bullying, drinking, and suicidal thoughts.

GEARS, another new club, focuses on equal opportunities for all people in the engineering field.

A GEARS co-founder, senior Mariam Grigoryan, said, “Mr. Black started this club to get more females interested in engineering.”
