I would say the science was settled ever since we found out about the zygote and DNA. Humanity starts at conception. Using when the heart beats or when the first thought comes or whatever is a very arbitrary delineation.
The zygote has the exact same DNA as it would as a child, and is developing. It’s the earliest form of a child, essentially.
The point about right wingers not caring is simply a straw man of the right winger. Right wingers do care about children, but they simply don’t want to save them using government social programs for various reasons.
