‘Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4’ concludes beautifully

One of the fight scenes that takes place in the game.

The Naruto Storm series has been a long-running franchise that stands out from the generic fighting game. Since the first installment of the series was released on Playstation 3 in 2008, the final installment of the series has evolved into the best Naruto game. From over 40 naruto games, fans will surely not be disappointed on how Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 ends.

The gameplay of Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 utilizes some of the same gameplay mechanics from the Ninja Storm Series. There is the traditional one button for each attack, chakra, projectiles and jumping. The game also has the same two support features to aid a character in a battle. However, one notable change they made is the ability of switching the lead fighter with the support character. Now you can use a support character to be your main fighter in battle. This adds fluid movement to combos and a neat change in the game. All the fans’ requests have been taken into account when creating the game. Now all the fan favorite features from all the Naruto Storm games have been added to one game.

More characters have been added to the roaster. This includes Naruto Sage of Six Paths Mode, Naruto the Last,  Rinnegan Sasuke, Sasuke the Last, Madara Uchiha Six Paths, Rin, and many more. If you took the time to preorder the game, then you received the characters Boruto Uzumaki and Sarada Uchiha. This makes the roaster exceed the number of 100. CyberConnect2 did a great job adding outstanding characters to the already massive roaster. However, there were many characters that were left out. These characters included Zetsu, Hagoromo, Baki, Shizune, Mangetsu Hozuki, Mitsuki, Kurenai, and many more. The roaster would have been complete if all the fan favorite characters from the anime were included.

Most of the characters in Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4  are the same characters from the previous storm games with the same exact movesets. The developers could have implemented different combos, ultimates and awakenings to make the character feel new and refreshing. Similarly, a majority of the maps have been from the previous Naruto Storm games and very few maps have been added. This game is the new installment to the series; however, many of the features have been recycled.

The story mode captures the climax of the Fourth Shinobi World War. This is the climax of the anime series and has been well portrayed in story mode. The game makes you go through the story in chapters that are mixed with numerous elements of normal battles, survival and boss fights. The boss fights are the best out of all the Naruto Storm games. The developers perfected the boss fights by making them thrilling and striking. The story itself is filled with action and impactful moments.

The only problem in story mode is the difficulty. A player will be able to play through the story without any challenge. This is the best plot in the Naruto Storm series because the plot reveals a lot and is filled with numerous climatic moments. Fans will not be disappointed with how the story ended.

One of the problems in the game is the boring adventure mode. Adventure mode takes place after the Fourth Shinobi World War. This may seem interesting at first, but the game is filled with filler content and has little importance to the story. This adventure mode allows you to roam the ninja world as Naruto. The player receives several missions and challenges to complete during Naruto’s travels. The problem with adventure mode is that these missions are boring and are a waste of time. This is one of the aspects of the game that shows the true laziness of the developers. CyberConnect2 was not able to make an engaging adventure mode to portray the moments after the Fourth Shinobi World War.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 concludes the series nicely. The memorable plot will make fans wishing for another Naruto game. This is one of the most unique fighting games on the market because this game stands out from the generic fighting games. This game is a must buy for any Naruto fans. Despite the boring adventure mode, recycled material, and its flaws this game deserves an 8/10.
