Perfectly Imperfect is the perfect new album

During auditions for this year’s America’s Got Talent, Grace Vanderwaal said, “I believe miracles could happen, so possibly,” when Simon Cowell asked her if she thought that she could win. At 12 years old, she stunned both the judges and the crowd and earned the season’s first golden buzzer. Fast forward four months and she is the winner of the show’s $1 million grand prize for their 11th season.
Known for her original songs, the singer released her first album Dec. 2. The album includes four singles she performed live on the show as well as a song she said wasn’t right for America’s Got Talent, “Gossip Girl.” Among those four is her incredibly successful song, which she auditioned with and sang in the finale, “I Don’t Know My Name.” This original, the reason her audition video reached 46 million views, is a song expressing how Vanderwaal came to figure herself out and learned that it’s okay to stand out.
This viral sensation has managed to inject so much personality, experience, and soul into her songs, I find it hard to believe that she’s just 12. My personal favorite, “I don’t know my name,” is a single relatable to everyone who hears it. Her ukulele tabs and chords are what make her music especially unique. They provide the perfect accent to the tone of her voice and a special way to showcase her artistic lyrics like in her album’s song, “Light the Sky.”
Grace Vanderwaal is on the right track to having a very successful career, and her album certainly displays to not just America but the rest of the world why she won America’s Got Talent.
