The first trailer for ‘The Magnificent Seven’ remake emerges
It seems now in 2016 that the art of the Western is slowly fading away. Thanks to recent works such as The Hateful Eight, No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood, the bareboned structure of the classic genre continues to peek out every now and then from behind the very dehydrated cactus known as mainstream cinema.
Arguably one of the most iconic Westerns of all time is John Sturges’ The Magnificent Seven, which is now being treated to a remake directed by Antoine Fuqua (Southpaw, Training Day). The very fact that the remake stars Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt and Ethan Hawke is already enough to merit a strong reaction and high expectations for the film.
As if that wasn’t motivation enough, Nic Pizzolatto, the screenwriter and genius behind HBO’s critically acclaimed True Detective, is one of the writers for the remake. His unique voice and dark tone will surely add a layer of grime to the beloved tale.
The trailer was just released, and it is as intense as it should be. With instances of the same charm the original had and plenty of intense gunshot fights, the film definitely has the promise to be quite a successful endeavor.
