Vortex of Destruction

Roobina Najarian, Senior:

I avoid media with every ounce of courage inside of me. All media has ever done is corrupt generations. The stronger media becomes, the more corruption is observed in the world. It’s irritating to watch the new shows, commercials and programs. They all promote money, sex and drugs. Everything that media promotes is for the sole purpose of gaining money.

What the young generation needs to realize is that the people who run all the media productions are not working to positively influence viewers. The only thing that they are concerned about is how much money they will make by getting people to do what they want. It does not matter to them that the minds of the younger generations are being damaged. As long as they are profiting, they are happy. This tells us that despite the harmful consequences, media will endorse anything and everything as long as there’s money involved.

Nowadays, even cartoons have subliminal messages. They secretly promote money, sex, pride, drugs and many other negative aspects that later corrupt the minds of children. Parents who leave the raising of their children in the hands of TV, video games or other gadgets controlled by media, will regret it soon enough. Putting your child in front of the TV set for hours, getting them their own personal electronic gadgets while they’re still young or letting them spend as much time as they want on the computer is allowing media to mold their mind. Media will destroy young minds and there is no doubt about it.

Many kinds of careless actions work hand in hand to destroy each generation more than the other. If parents are not careful, media will corrupt their child. Call me old fashioned, but I believe in the traditional methods of raising a child. I grew up in a family where it was made clear that I will not be receiving any personal electronic gadgets until my parents thought I was ready. My parents were aware of the hours I spent in front of the TV or computer, they knew about everything I watched or played and they had set rules that I needed to follow in order to use any of our electronic devices. I had limits and those limits kept my mind from getting corrupted by media. Media did not raise me, my parents did. I am now grateful to them for setting all those rules and being strict about things like that.

If parents do not teach and discipline their children with love, media will use other methods to get the job done. Media is dangerous. It is the source of corruption in every generation. Every generation is worse than the last and I can confidently say that this is a result of the growing media industries. Media is parenting children and leading them straight to destruction. Whether it is perverting mind, corrupting kids, ruining morals or destroying generations, media will do all things just to gain money. Society has given into the power of media and is following it straight into the vortex of destruction.
