On Tuesday night, Alen Shirvanyan was awarded the Outstanding Attorney Award for his role in our Mock Trial team. Los Angeles County DA, Jackie Lacey, presented him with the award. Out of 136 participating schools, he was one of two prosecuting attorneys awarded.

On Dec. 2, senior Alen Shirvanyan, an attorney for Clark’s Mock Trial team, was awarded the Outstanding Attorney Award. Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey presented Shirvanyan with the award at Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Downtown Los Angeles.

Out of 136 participating schools in Los Angeles County, Shirvanyan was one of two prosecuting attorneys awarded. According to team advisor Melissa O’Gara, Shirvanyan did an excellent job at organizing the facts into a cohesive story for the judge and the jury.

“Being a lawyer is hard, and Alen has always been outstanding at it. He’s able to pick everything up fast,” O’Gara said. “Alen’s composure and professionalism never fail to impress me.”

“I think being awarded as an outstanding attorney is an honor,” Shirvanyan said. “I couldn’t be more happy about it. Being in this program for the past three years has helped me progress in the field that I want to go into in the future.”

Mock Trial is a nationwide program sponsored by the Constitutional Rights Foundation. Students interested in government, law and acting form teams and try a fictional case in an actual courtroom.
