Clark welcomes freshmen with a pancake breakfast

The morning of Aug. 22 was filled with the fragrance of teacher Randy Tiffany’s pancakes, as the freshmen class was called down for the annual pancake breakfast. Most students were very excited for the pancakes, and their expectations weren’t betrayed as a majority of the freshmen stated that the pancakes were “very good.”

Many of them said they appreciated the breakfast since they didn’t expect Clark Magnet to hold such an event. “It’s nice that they give you pancakes,” said freshman Alex Fenyes while he and his friends ate their pancakes.

Before the newcomers got a chance to cover their pancakes with syrup, speeches were made by ASB advisor Elaine Snodgress, Assistant Principal Lena Kortoshian and alumnus Lyova Bazalian. Bazalian talked of his experience at Clark as well as his brainchild that exists to this very day, the Principal’s Advisory Council (PAC). Following the speeches, the freshmen were released to eat pancakes.

According to Principal Doug Dall, the event is held each year “to get students to connect with school. And, in a way, it is a welcome to them to a new school.”

Soon the bell rang and the freshmen were sent off to snack after spending time in what was described by sophomore class secretary Marah Hasam as “a fun and happy environment.”
